Community
For two decades, Energy North has partnered and fundraised with the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). The money raised each year sends kids to MDA Summer Camp and funds groundbreaking research efforts and best-in-class care for kids and adults living with muscular dystrophy, ALS and related neuromuscular diseases.
Each member of Energy North team proudly participates in the fundraising efforts every March.
Each year, we set out to spread holiday spirit by participating in the Toys for Tots annual gift drive. Each of our Haffner’s, Energy North Group and Tradewinds locations across New England collected toys. To add to the fun, every child that brought in an unwrapped gift could enter their name in a drawing to win a huge stocking full of goodies! After each collection, the retail team delivered the toys to the local Marine Armed Forces center, where they were distributed to families in need just in time for the holidays.
In late fall 2019, Esperanza Academy students were asked by Energy North Group/Haffner’s to find beauty in their local surroundings and then transform it into a design for an oil truck. Congratulations to student winners: J’nyla, Jordyn, Michelle and Briany!
“We are so proud to have partnered with this amazing school and show the beauty of the Lawrence community on one of our trucks,” said Jeff Black, Owner & COO, Energy North Group.
Energy North Group/Haffner’s is honored to help support the programs at the Lazarus House in Lawrence, MA. These programs offer emergency shelter, food and clothing to people in crisis. They also provide transitional housing, advocacy, education and work preparation.
Each year, Energy North Group/Haffner’s is a proud sponsor and participant of the New Ipswich Congregational Church Children’s Fair. Not only do we provide the propane to power the event, but we also reward one lucky winner 100 gallons of home heating fuel!
After decades of giving to dozens of charitable organizations throughout the region, Energy North established the It Kicks! Foundation. The primary impact areas of the Foundation are youth development and educational opportunities for people of all ages.
So why “It Kicks?” The iconic kicking donkey has been part of the Haffner’s logo since 1933. Throughout the years, “It Kicks” has been used to describe everything from the extra boost in the Haffner’s gas to the extra mile all the employees go to make a difference. Naming the foundation “It Kicks!” was an easy decision.
